Merchant Navy Salary: After 10th

  • Eligible to enroll in the GP Rating course are those students who have done their class X board exams scoring a minimum of 45%. To apply for this CG Rating Candidates should fill out a registration form and then take a series of tests aimed at assessing their physical and mental fitness.
  • The GP Rating course lasts for 6 months; it is aimed at preparing cadets for Engine and Deck Rating jobs on ships. The minimum age requirement for applicants is 17 years while the maximum is 25 years.
  • After successfully completing the GP Rating training program candidates may be enlisted into either Engine or Deck crew on board ships. After gaining 36 months of experience working at sea they will sit for the 2nd Mate Examination which enables them to rise to the officer rank. Other promotions may be secured by passing additional oral and written examinations.
