OSSSC CRE Exam Pattern 2024
The preliminary exams for the OSSSC CRE will include five subjects. The screening exam will test their knowledge of mathematics, General Knowledge, English, Odia, and Logical Reasoning.
Twenty questions will be asked from each topic, carrying one mark each. The candidates will also be negatively marked. Each wrong answer will cost the candidate a loss of 0.33 mark. All the segments in these prelims will have a time duration of one and a half hours.

The OSSSC, with its official notification, has also laid out a few other terms and conditions for the candidates. One who is appearing for these exams must also take note of the conditions given below.
- The candidates must download the OSSSC CRE Admit Card from the website online. The commission will not send any hard copy of the admission letter through post.
- The examination will be conducted in different states through multiple question sets. Therefore, the commission will adopt the latest percentile formula followed by the NTA to convert the raw scores into percentile scores.
- If there is a tie between candidates with the same score in the prelims, the candidate with less negative marking will be placed above in the merit list. If the candidates have a tie in the negative marking, the older candidate will be placed above.
- Due to a lack of standard infrastructure and unfavorable conditions in the centers of some districts, the examination center of a neighboring district is allotted to some candidates.
- All the questions in these examinations will be bilingual except the language subjects. If there is any confusion in the Odia version, the candidate may refer to the English version.
- The people having a benchmark disability will be allowed a compensatory 30 minutes in all the papers as per the rules.
- These preliminary exams are being conducted as a screening test only. The candidates will be shortlisted five times for vacancies advertised to appear in the main examination as per merit. The marks secured in the main examination will determine the final order of the merit.
