CTET Selection Process 2025 – Highlights
As mentioned earlier, the CTET exam is 150 marks and comprises 150 multiple-choice questions. The is an online exam, i.e., a computer-based test. The time allotted to the candidates is 2 hours 30 mins (150 mins). It is conducted in Hindi and English. The applicant must score a minimum of 60% to clear the exam.

CTET Selection Process 2025
The CBSE conducts the exam to shortlist the eligible candidates for the posts of teachers in different government-run and private schools. There are two papers in CTET, and one may apply for either or both. The first paper is for the teachers from 1st to 5th, while the second paper is for the higher classes till standard VIII. Once the candidates clear this exam, they can apply for the teacher vacancy in public or private schools.

- The candidates may still undergo the selection process of the respective organisation to be recruited.

CTET 2025 – Eligibility
The candidates must check their eligibility to be valid candidates for the CTET 2025. The NCTE has specified eligibility criteria based on various factors like nationality, education, age and the number of attempts.
Nationality
The candidate must be an Indian citizen or a subject from Nepal or Bhutan. They may also be Tibetan who migrated to India before 1962. Migrants from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Ethiopia, Vietnam, and Burma can also appear for the examination.
Education Qualification for Paper 1 (Primary Teacher)
Candidates must have completed a 2-year Diploma in the specified fields with a minimum of 50% to be eligible CTET candidates.
Education Qualification for Paper 2 (Elementary Teacher)
The applicants must have completed their graduation and have a 2-year diploma in the specified elementary education science.
Age Limit
The candidates must have completed 17 years of age at least. There is no upper limit specified for CTET.
Number of Attempts
No limit has been specified for the maximum number of attempts. A candidate can take as many attempts as they wish.
CTET Selection Process 2025 – Keypoints
- The CTET must recognise the degree or diploma.
- CTET only acknowledges programmes with a diploma or degree in special education accredited by the Rehabilitation Council of India.
- Candidates with a D.Ed (Special Education) must undergo an additional 6-month prescribed programme by CTET.
- The criteria for minimum marks apply to teachers of Languages, Social Studies/Social Science, Mathematics, Science, and so on.
- NCET has set rules for physical instructors.
- For Arts & Craft, Home Science and Skill-based courses, the rules by the state or the respective school will be applicable.
- The burden of checking eligibility lies with the candidates.
- The specific school will do the document verification, and clearing the test does not imply being eligible to be recruited.
