A candidate willing to apply for the post of Constable General Duty in CISF must fulfill the following eligibility criteria.
Age Criteria
A candidate must be of minimum 18 years and must not exceed 27 years to apply for this post. Age relaxation is available for the reserved categories such as scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and OBC.
A candidate must have at least passed 10th grade from a recognised institution to apply for this post.
Nationality
A candidate applying for this post must strictly be an Indian citizen.
Must not have any criminal records.
Must be of sound mind and character
Should be physically and mentally fit.
Physical Standards
A candidate who wishes to apply for the post of Constable General Duty in CISF must fulfill the following physical standards.
Height – The height of male candidates must be 170 cms and that of female candidates must be 157 cms if they want to apply for the post
Chest – On inhaling the chest width of a male candidate must be 85 cms and after exhaling it must be 80cms. This criteria only stands true for male candidates.
Candidates must note that height and chest relaxation is provided to candidates of certain categories.
Medical Standards
A candidate must be found physically fit as per the medical criteria of CISF. If a candidate fails to meet the medical standard, his/her candidature would be canceled.

Written Exam
A written exam of 2 hours is conducted by CISF for the constable GD post
The number of questions and marks may vary but usually range between 100 to 200 marks
The questions asked are multiple choice questions (MCQs) from general knowledge, elementary mathematics, analytical aptitude, and basic knowledge of English and Hindi
Candidates must note that there is a negative marking for incorrect answers
All the candidates who qualify the written exam are eligible for the physical standards test which includes basic measurement of height, chest and weight of the candidate to check their suitability for the service. The measurement of the chest is only done for male candidates. The physical standards may vary depending upon the region and the category a candidate belongs from.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
The physical efficiency Test is a test of candidates’ fitness. Under this the candidate is tasked to run 1.6 km for males and 800 m for females in a stipulated time. To check physical efficiency other activities such as long jump and high jump are also used. These standards of fitness might vary according to the criteria set by CISF.
Medical Test
Qualified candidates of PST and PET tests proceed for the medical examination. The candidates who meet the physical standards as prescribed by CISF are selected.
Document verification
After qualifying the medical exam, the candidates’ documents are verified. At this stage if it is found that any information provided by the candidate is false, their candidature will be canceled.
Candidates must note that selection after the medical test is not final and will only be confirmed depending upon the number of posts available.
