The recruitment of the Assistant Commandant was announced in 2023, last year and the initiation of the selection process began the same year. There were a series of tests involved in the recruitment process.
1. Written test
Candidates who have successfully submitted their application form were given admit cards to appear for a written test where they were given objective questions based on the exam syllabus.
2. Physical efficiency test
Candidates who made it through the first test successfully were taken to the next round of the recruitment process where their physicality was tested based on some physical assessment assigned to them on the spot. Candidates were required to prepare for this test before consistently to bring momentum.

Note: Three chances are given for the Long Jump to both male and female candidates and there is no Shot Put for the female category.
3. Personal interview, document verification, and medical examination
Candidates who have cleared the previous test will be again called for a personal interview where they will also be asked to carry along some essential documents for verification. If any candidate is found submitting false or inaccurate details during the time of registration process and application form they will be disqualified from this round.
The candidate will be further medically examined to check their mental and physical fitness and if they are ready to take up the responsibility that comes along with the role in the defense service. All these candidates who have proven their proficiency during these series of tests in the recruitment process will be shortlisted in the final round to join the service.
Note: Selected candidates will given training before joining the service and the training session will be funded by the government of India.
