Vacancy Details 

Under the SSC Constable GD candidates are hired for the position of constables in CAPF, NIA, SSF and as Riflemen (GD) in the Assam Rifles. The number of vacancies expected in 2024 is 51533+ posts including vacancies for both male and female candidates.

The vacancy distribution for SSC GD 2023 is given below. Therefore, it is safe to assume that the number of vacancies released this year would be more than 2023.

Eligibility Criteria 

Candidates who wish to apply for the post of constable General Duty under the Staff Selection Commission have to fulfill the following educational and age criteria. 

Educational Qualification 

  •  A candidate applying for this post must have completed 10th standard from a recognised board.

Age Criteria 

  • A candidate willing to apply for the post of constable general duty must be of minimum 18 years and must not exceed 23 years of age.
  • Candidates must note that age relaxation for various reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PwD/ex-servicemen) is also available.

 

Application Procedure 

To apply for the various posts under SSC GDrecruitment 2024, candidates have to follow the following steps.

  • On the homepage, click on the recruitment link
  • Register yourself online using your name, mobile number, and email ID 
  • Your password and registration id is sent to your phone number via SMS or your email ID 
  • Login using those credentials

  • Make the application fee payment via any online banking mode 
  • Click on the submit button

Application Fee 

All the candidates who wish to apply for SSC recruitment 2024 have to do so by filling the application fee. 

  • For UR/OBC the registration fee is ₹100
  • SC/ST, Women, and ex servicemen do not have to pay any application fee.

Selection Procedure 

The candidates must make themselves aware of the selection procedure which includes rigorous physical tests to test the physical efficiency of a candidate. 

There are four phases to selection procedure for the SSC constable GD.These are: 

  1. Computer Based Exam (CBE)
  2. Physical efficiency test (PET)
  3. Physical Standards Test (PST)
  4. Document Verification 
  5. Medical exam

 

Exam Pattern 

  • Computer Based Exam (CBE)
  • The first stage of SSC GD exam is a CBE
  • The number of questions and marks may vary but usually range between 100 to 200 marks
  • The questions asked are multiple choice questions (MCQs) from general knowledge, elementary mathematics, analytical aptitude, and basic knowledge of English and Hindi 
  • Candidates must note that there is a negative marking for incorrect answers

 

  • Physical Standards Test (PST) 

All the candidates who qualify the written exam are eligible for the physical standards test which includes basic measurement of height, chest and weight of the candidate to check their suitability for the service. The measurement of the chest is only done for male candidates. The physical standards may vary depending upon the region and the category a candidate belongs from.

 

  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

The physical efficiency Test is a test of candidates’ fitness. Under this the candidate is tasked to run 1.6 km for males and 800 m for females in a stipulated time. To check physical efficiency other activities such as long jump and high jump are also used. These standards of fitness might vary according to the criteria set by the government.

  • Medical Test

Qualified candidates of PST and PET testing proceed for the medical examination. The candidates who meet the physical standards as prescribed by the government are selected. 

 

  • Document verification 

After qualifying the medical exam, the candidates’ documents are verified. At this stage if it is found that any information provided by the candidate is false, their candidature will be canceled.

 

Candidates must note that selection after the medical test is not final and will only be confirmed depending upon the number of posts available.
